Mini Vaca

Besides several trips to the lake this summer, we really haven't had the chance to "get away" as a family of four. We decided to "make a night out of it" after my company's holiday party on Friday night. We got a hotel room and hit the water park. In an attempt to pack lightly, Nate suggested we get two queen beds and skip the pack-n-play...not such a good idea when you have a crazy 9 month old on your hands. When he proposed this plan, I asked him how we would get Breck to sleep. His response, "bottle." Five times out of ten Breck will fall asleep for the night with a bottle. The other five times we lay him in his crib and he puts himself to sleep (a dream come true). Well, that didn't go as planned. We finally got him to bed around 10 p.m. and the rest of us followed. At midnight, I stretched my arm across the bed, and didn't feel a baby. I quickly jumped up and switched on the lights to find our sweet little monster on the floor amongst a pile of pillows...my heart was seriously pounding on the outside of my chest. The rest of the night I slept so lightly and was awoken to my husband's barbaric snoring several times. At 4 a.m. Breck was sitting up and talking. That lasted until 5:30....needless to say we didn't get much sleep. We sure learned that lesson the hard way.

Minus the lack of sleep, we had a sweet time. Lots of splashing with my two little fish and a lazy Saturday morning that didn't involve a dirty house and piles of laundry staring at me. Unfortunately, they were still there when we got home.

Ready to hit the water park!
