In preparation for Gavin's new role as big brother, we signed up for the Sibling Class offered by our local Community Education office. The class was held at the hospital and in my opinion, was well worth the $12 fee. First, he got to decorate his own big brother t-shirt with paints. Then we took a tour of the brand new maternity ward at the hospital. It is amazing! A HUGE improvement over the old facility and is state-of-the art! Walking through there really made "it" sink in. I still can't believe we'll be there in about six weeks! After the tour, the kids gathered around one of the nurses with their baby dolls or stuffed animals and talked about how to hold a baby, what they would be able to help out with, not to put their fingers in their mouth or eyes, etc. Gavin was front and center and snuggled little Freddy (his doll) the whole time. During one of my last appointments, my doctor and I were talking about Gavin's new role as a big brother. She was telling me how exciting it would be to experience this baby through his little eyes. I guess I had never really thought of that before. It made me REALLY excited....it's just like the Christmas season. Christmas is wonderful time of year but when you can experience it through the eyes of a child, it makes it even more special!
